Pool-Pickleball Project Delayed

The appeal of the Garner lawsuit has forced the POA to escrow the increased assessment fees and to not include them in the 2016 budget.

Quote from revised 2016 budget:

The removed infrastructure projects include: Gate Software & Equipment Improvements, Pickleball/Pool Complex, Fuel Stop Renovation, and Balboa irrigation project. These projects and the corresponding long term project financing was moved to 2017. Management recommends a re-evaluation of the budget as soon as the assessment suit is finalized.

The fees for pickleball remain the same as 2015.

The complete revised budget is at this link.

Updates and reminders from the President:

A court reservation system has been put into effect. You may now go to our website (hsvpickleball.org) and pull down the tab on the menu line. For your first visit, complete instructions are there.  Please start using this for two reasons. 1) You will be assured of having a court, or more if your group needs them, when you show up at the courts.  2) We will have a better idea of the court utilization.  The POA wants us to report what our usage is.?!?  If you have a question, feel free to contact me or the webmaster Bill Booth.

The ‘open – drop in’ time has been changed for the summer.  It is now 8-10am every day. In addition, There is now an ‘open – drop in’ time at 6pm on Thursday. I plan to be there the first few weeks to get this going. I encourage all of you to use these times when you want to play, and don’t have a group. We have quite a few new members, and want to be sure that they are welcome at these times.  That means that it may be necessary to calibrate play by skill level.

Ladder leagues are now in progress.  They are set up so that you do not have to commit to being there every week.  There are ladders for all skill levels, and you can join in now, even tho you have missed some weeks. See the Ladder info on our website.

The next Rec Committee meeting is Mon the 11th at 4pm, at the Coronado Center.   The pickleball courts future is on the agenda, and will be discussed.  It will be good if we can fill the room with players.

This Saturday, May 9th, is ‘Pepperoni Pickleball’, an outing for 4.0+ Club members. Information is available on the website. Please let Christie know you’re coming by May 7.

As always, If you have something you want addressed, please feel free to contact any or all of your Board members. (Jim, Bill, Al, Holly, Christie, Kent, or Susan)  We are here to serve you.

Keep ’em in play;       jim
