An out-of-the-ordinary Pickleball Game

  • It’s a Round-Robin format with 2 balls in play at the same time.
  • Games can be played to 11, 15, or 21 – win by one.
  • Points are scored on all rallies by either team.
  • This out-of-the-ordinary game consists of two servers on one baseline and two returners on the other baseline.
  • Whichever team is designated as the serve team begins play by exclaiming “Go”. Both servers attempt to serve at the same time into the correct service squares.
  • If the serve team continues to win, the team will switch places after every serve, so the serve team is not always serving to the same returner.
  • The serve team must honor the double bounce rule.
  • The return team must put the ball into play by returning cross-court.
  • After that any player can hit either ball.
  • Both balls are “point balls”.
  • One point can be won on each ball by either team.
  • If the serve team wins 1 point and the other team wins 1 point off the same rally, the serve team continues to serve.
  • If the serve team loses the rally by losing 2 points balls in the same rally, the return team becomes the serve team for the next points. A team may not let one ball die just to play only one ball or the game would not be an out-of-the-ordinary pickleball game!
